NH&A would approach any start to finish project using the same basic
plan. Our method is easily broken down into four phases.
A.
DISCOVERY
-
Investigate the existing jobsite conditions, noting building
logistics.
-
Remove
adequate core samples from the roof areas involved, determining the
existing composition of the roof assembly, including the possible
existence of asbestos containing materials.
-
Obtain
digital photographs of all problem areas, penetrations, walls and
perimeters, to be used as an aid in determining cause and affect of
current conditions.
-
Accurately measure the area involved, noting details at walls,
perimeters and penetrations, loading the information to AutoCad for
ready reference.
-
Determine design load for roof structure.
-
Research available records to determine if any manufacturer and/or
contractor warranties are in effect.
|
B.
DISCUSSION
-
Meet with the building owner to discuss the best possible
approach to resolve the problems discovered, taking into
consideration such things as budget parameters, life expectancy
of the facility, project location (high wind area, fumes
unacceptable, limited staging area, etc.).
-
During the discussion phase, it might be determined that total
removal and replacement is not necessary, creating the need for
additional discovery in the form of a non-destructive Infrared
Survey to locate any possible trapped moisture (See Services
Page).
|
 |
C.
DESIGN
-
Based
on the evidence discovered in the first stage, and through close
communication with the owner in the discussion stage, the design
process would begin.
-
Selected system would be designed around applicable code authority
regulations, UL and FM requirements (fire, hail, uplift), load
limitations and "R" values necessary to address energy requirements.
-
Bid
documents are then prepared, outlining in detail the exact
installation process for the entire assembly, including drawings of
all flashing details, and any other items necessary to complete the
proper application of the specified system.
|
D.
CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION
-
With final approval of the completed design package by the
owner, the project is then entered into the bid process by
following legal guidelines for the particular work involved.
-
A
pre-bid conference is conducted with interested bidders,
allowing any questions regarding the project to be completely
clarified.
-
Bids are received, tabulated and, at the direction of the owner,
the project is awarded.
-
Contractor submittals for the designed work are received,
reviewed and either approved or returned for revision. This
process continues until all submittals are acceptable to the
specifier.
-
A
pre-job conference is then held with the successful bidder,
cleaning up any other detail that might have arisen, including
contractor job staging, coordination of work crews with the
facility director and other items related to the professional
completion of the work.
-
Full time inspection, or regularly scheduled jobsite visits by
qualified NH&A personnel, depending upon the contract
commitment, followed up with written reports for file is
provided to assure the project specifications are followed.
-
All interim contractor pay requests are reviewed for worthiness
before being forwarded to the owner for payment.
-
A
final inspection of the work is undertaken, with an appropriate
punch list of deficient items being duly noted for correction by
responsible parties.
-
All manufacturer and contractor warranties are received for the
owner.
